Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha” which got released on 2 August has opened to mixed reviews. The movie has been directed by Neeraj Pandey and it also stars Jimmy Shergill, Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee Manjrekar.
The majority of the online community called it a weak film but there were few who loved Ajay and Tabu’s performance. “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha” is the 10th movie in which Ajay and Tabu have worked together and their loyal fans will certainly watch it but the film may face problem in recovering its cost.
Tabu appeared in some interviews as a part of promotions and during a podcast, she was asked about the pay disparity between male and female actors. In response, Tabu asked the interviewer to pose this question to the person who is paying male actors more and less to female actresses and also to the male actor as to why he is taking more fees. She feels that if this question is asked to them, it may change the perspective.
Here is what Tabu said, “Every mediaperson will ask a female about pay parity. Every journalist will ask only the woman, ‘You know a man is paid more, you are paid less’. So why are you asking me? Why don’t you ask the person who is paying them more? How am I supposed to answer this question? So unless you just want to sensationalise the quote by saying, ‘I hate it that I’m being paid less’. That’s all. I can either say that or I can say, ‘I’m okay with being paid less’.”
She further added, “You know you are not going to get anything out of this question asking me. Why don’t you ask the male actor, why are you paid more than the female actor? This might change the perspective, and the whole thing will change if there is an outside lens. Physicality is always in the context of the lens that is being carried.”
