Once again a dark side of the Film industry came to focus when the 40- year old model cum actor committed suicide and succumbed to depression. The actress who acted in the highly acclaimed movie B.A Pass was found dead in her Mhada flat in Versoa, on Saturday evening. The 40- year old model committed suicide by slitting her throat open. The police have registered an accidental death case, and her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem.

Shikha Joshi was rushed to Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri where she was declared dead by the hospital personnel’s.
“The incident took place at around 6 pm. Joshi would stay in the flat with her friend. She went into the bathroom and slit her throat open using a sharp object. When she did not open the door for a long time, her friend knocked on the door and Joshi opened it. However, she collapsed immediately due to excessive bleeding.” said DCP Satya Narayan Chaudhry.

There was no suicide note found which clears the air of murder, and indicates that it was sure case of suicide. The reason behind the suicide seems to be the depression that the actor was going through after not getting offers from Bollywood even after working in a critically acclaimed movie like B.A Pass. Shikha Joshi his survived by 19- year old daughter.

Senior police inspector Ravindranath Pawar, said, “We have not found any suicide note. The kitchen knife used in the crime has been seized. She was staying with her friend, Madhu Bharti, whose statement is being recorded. Bharti was staying with Joshi for the last two months. Prima facie, it seems that Joshi took the extreme step due to frustration.”

This is not an ugly truth of the Bollywood but the just a facet which many have faced and are still facing. May be, Bollywood truly holds to the phrase – “Jo Dikhta hai wahi Bikta hai”
