Gender Equality has been a topic of debate and discussion for a long time now and still there is a huge gap in the remuneration of men and women, even if both are in the same position. This topic came up for discussion in the Hindi Film Industry when Kangana Ranaut raised her voice against the low paychecks of female actresses in comparison to their male counterparts.
Kangana is the highest paid actress of Bollywood after her blockbuster “Queen”, for which she has also won the National Award. In comparison to earlier times, more movies are being made keeping in mind women as central character but still the remuneration of male actors increasing with every next movie but the remuneration of female actors is almost stagnant. Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan have also raised this issue, this is what Vidya has said, “Remuneration has changed but if you compare it with what the men get it is still very different. But I would say let’s not compare it because just five per cent of these films are being made. I think we will get our due. We are slowly moving towards that.”
Kangana is the highest paid actress and she is getting Rs.11 crores which is still less to what Arjun Rampal (Rs. 14 crores) gets. Can you believe it?
