In the second match, Jadeja breached the article 2.2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Player and Player Support Personnel, which deals with, “throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment such as a water bottle) at or near a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other third person in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an International Match”.

Due to this incident, his accumulated demerit points have reached the figure of 6 within the 2-yr period. This incident took place on the third day of Colombo test at the final delivery of the 58th over when Jadeja fielded on his own bowling and threw ball at the batsman who didn’t even leave the crease. The umpires considered it “dangerous” as it missed the batsman Dimuth Karunaratne by a narrow margin.

The Indian all-rounder made no argument and accepted the offence, suspension and fine sanctioned by Richie Richardson who is from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees.

Jadeja got three demerit points in the second match against Sri Lanka while he had a score of three demerit points which he received in Oct, 2016, during the test match played against New Zealand in Indore when he violated Code 2.2.11. Now if he receives more demerit points and crosses the limit of eight demerit points within the 24-month period, they will amount to four suspension points.

For now, Indian fans will miss their favorite cricketer in the Pallekele test match which will be played from 12th August to 16th August.
