“Ban Him From Commentary,” Twitter Slams Sunil Gavaskar For Unpleasant Remark On Hetmyer’s Wife

The former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar who is a pretty famous commentator of the present times has once again invited trouble for himself after making a cheeky comment which is related to a West Indian cricketer’s wife.

Sunil Gavaskar is currently commentating in the matches of the IPL 2022 and during the match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings which was played on May 20 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, he made a comment about Shimron Hetmyer’s wife. This did not go well with the audiences and many online users even demanded that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should sack Little Master as he used to get called during his playing days.

The Caribbean cricketer who is playing for RR in the IPL 2022 left bio-bubble for the birth of his first baby some time ago but now he is back and he was a part of the squad which played against MS Dhoni led CSK.

Shimron Hetmyer came to bat for his team at number six and at that time, RR needed 47 runs of 31 balls to win the match. It was then Sunil Gavaskar started a controversy while commentating as he said, “Hetmyer’s wife delivered; will Hetmyer deliver for the Royals now?”

This comment irked fans and many took to social media to slam the former Indian cricketer. Here are some of the selected reactions:

Earlier, Sunil Gavaskar was in the center of a controversy when he made a comment about Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma. However when the whole matter unfolded, it was found that he said nothing wrong about Anushka and the matter was just blown away unnecessarily.

As far as match and Shimron Hetmyer’s innings are concerned, the West Indian batter managed only 6 runs in 7 deliveries which included a boundary.

The toss was won by Mahi and he asked RR to bowl first. CSK didn’t get a good start as it lost its openers quite early but Moeen Ali played a wonderful knock of 93 runs (57 balls, 13 fours & 3 sixes) and tried to help his team make a big score. However, he didn’t get much support from other batters and the wickets kept on falling regularly. MS Dhoni played a useful innings of 26 runs (28 balls, 1 four & 1 six) and CSK managed to put 150/6 on the score board.

In response, RR chased the target successfully with 5 wickets in hand and 2 balls remaining in its innings with the help of brilliant knocks of Yashasvi Jaiswal (59 runs, 44 balls, 8 fours & 1 six) and Ravichandran Ashwin (40 runs, 23 balls, 2 fours & 3 sixes). R Ashwin was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his performance with bat and the ball (1/28 in 4 overs) as well.

RR has entered the play-offs as it is sitting at the second spot in the points table and it will certainly like to win the IPL trophy second time as it won its first trophy 14 years ago in the inaugural edition of the league which took place in 2008.
