A 24-year-old Nigerian woman, Haneefah Adam wished to see a Barbie being dressed exactly the same way as she did. Making the popular doll wear ‘Hijab’, she has given it a perfect makeover. Termed ‘Hijarbie’, this doll would initially be available for sale with major toy retailers in the US. Later, from mid-March, it would be available in the UK too, at a price of 9.99pounds each.
Looking at Barbie Style Instagram, Adam started thinking deeply and had a desire of dressing up a Barbie in the same way as she did (all covered). For 3 months, she just kept thinking about an idea, along with studying for her master’s degree. When she came back to Nigeria, she purchased a Barbie, dressed it up like herself and her Hijarbie was all set!
Currently, Adam owns a lifestyle brand termed ‘Hanie’! On Instagram, her ‘Hijarbies’ already have over 17,000 followers.
In an Insta post, Adam stated that as soon as their website is built, Hijarbies would be available for purchase.
