One of the biggest tournaments of the cricket world, ICC ODI World Cup 2023 has started today with England and New Zealand facing each other in the opening match of the tournament which is being played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
10 teams are participating the tournament and almost all of them have played warm-up matches (if they didn’t get spoiled due to rain) and a Captain’s Day Meet event was organised so that the skippers of the 10 teams can interact with the media and answer their questions.
One photo from this event which features South African skipper Temba Bavuma has gone viral because the photo has been clicked from such an angle that it seems as if Temba is sleeping.
Barmy Army, the group which supports the England cricket team, also took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared the photo of Temba Bavuma with the caption, “Temba Bavuma has just fallen asleep in the World Cup captain’s conference”.
Soon, the South African skipper reacted to it and he gave an explanation which read, “I blame the camera angle, I wasn’t sleeping”.
I blame the camera angle, I wasn’t sleeping 🤦🏽♂️

As far as the opening match is concerned, the toss was won by the Kiwis and they decided to bowl first. Batting first, England has posted a total of 282/9 on the scoreboard in their 50 overs with the help of Joe Root’s brilliant knock of 77 runs (86 balls, 4 fours & 1 six).
Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand as he took 3 wickets for 48 runs in his 10 overs.
What do you think? Was Temba Bavuma sleeping or not?
