Life inside the Bigg Boss 19 house may have put Malti Chahar in the spotlight but it is her recent words outside the show that have struck a deeper chord. Moving away from reality show drama, the actor and filmmaker has spoken candidly about the uncomfortable experiences she encountered while trying to find her footing in the film industry. As someone who entered the profession with dreams and determination, Malti’s journey has not been without difficult moments.

Malti Chahar, who is also cricketer Deepak Chahar’s sister, addressed the issue of casting couch during a recent interview. She acknowledged that such situations do exist and she personally faced them early in her career. According to her, there were instances when people subtly crossed boundaries or tested how far they could go. These moments, she explained, often begin quietly rather than openly.
Malti Chahar shared that people in the industry are quick to read behaviour, body language and personality. In her experience, some individuals tried to overstep and one even behaved inappropriately. However, she felt that many backed off once they sensed she would not tolerate such behaviour. Malti believes that being clear, firm and confident from the beginning often discourages people from crossing lines.

Reflecting on her upbringing, Malti Chahar said her background played a big role in shaping how she handled such situations. Growing up in a disciplined household, with her father serving in the Indian Air Force, taught her clarity and strength. She feels this upbringing naturally reflected in her conversations and conduct, helping her shut down uncomfortable advances before they escalated.
During the same conversation, Malti Chahar also shared advice for women hoping to enter the industry. She urged them to stay alert and not be swayed by flattery or promises. According to her, awareness and clearly defined boundaries are essential, especially in spaces where power dynamics can easily be misused.

Malti Chahar also recalled a disturbing incident involving a senior and well-known filmmaker. After meeting him several times for work, she hugged him politely from the side once the project discussions ended. To her shock, he tried to kiss her on the lips. The incident left her frozen and confused but she immediately stopped him and chose never to meet him again.
What troubled her most was the respect she once held for him. She said she had looked up to him as a fatherly figure, which made the experience even more upsetting. She admitted that the incident taught her a hard lesson about not placing anyone on a pedestal and remaining cautious, regardless of age or reputation.
