Ajit Agarkar addressed mediaperson during a press conference ahead of the Sri Lankan tour in which he revealed that some new faces will be introduced in the Indian bowling attack in order to increase the depth.

The mediapersons also ask about the veteran pacer Mohammed Shami who has informed through Instagram that he has started bowling and in response, Agarkar states that it is a good sign that Shami has started to bowl and their goal is have him fit by the first test match against Bangladesh (19 Sept) but they need to confirm the timeline with the National Cricket Academy.

Ajit Agarkar states that a good number of test matches are going to be played in India and there are chances that the team may not have three seamers in the playing eleven but still they need depth in their squad. He adds that though Bumrah, Shami and Siraj have been in the team for quite some time now, still they need to explore more options for increasing the depth of the team.

Ajit Agarkar also says that a lot of first class cricket is going to be played in India and it will give them a chance to assess the talent so the discussion regarding the new talent will start now.

Gautam Gambhir, the new head coach of the Indian cricket team has also joined the squad in Sri Lanka and hopefully, he will start his tenure in the best possible manner by winning both the series.
