The excitement around Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to domestic cricket should have been a moment of celebration for Indian fans. Instead, it turned into a talking point for all the wrong reasons. What was meant to be a showcase of two modern greats rediscovering their touch in the Vijay Hazare Trophy ended up frustrating fans due to poor-quality visuals released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

With no live telecast or streaming available for most matches because of broadcast restrictions for the tournament, supporters were already relying on highlights to relive the action. However, when the BCCI finally shared clips of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s centuries, the footage appeared hazy and unclear, leaving many fans disappointed. Several felt that the visuals resembled low-grade security camera recordings rather than coverage of landmark performances by two of India’s biggest stars.

The frustration grew further as Virat Kohli’s match for Delhi against Andhra Pradesh in Bengaluru was played behind closed doors, denying fans even the chance to watch from the stands. This outing marked Virat Kohli’s return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after nearly 15 years and he made it memorable with a polished 131 off 101 balls, including a flurry of boundaries and sixes. The innings also saw him achieve major milestones, as he completed 1,000 List A runs for Delhi in record time and became the fastest batter to cross 16,000 List A runs, surpassing a long-standing benchmark.

Rohit Sharma’s performance was equally breathtaking. Playing at a packed Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, he smashed an unbeaten 155 off just 94 balls to guide Mumbai to a comfortable chase against Sikkim. Returning to the tournament after six years, Rohit reached his century in quick time and converted it into a massive score, registering another 150-plus innings to his impressive List A record.

Despite the scale of these achievements, fans felt let down by the lack of proper broadcast coverage. Many expressed disappointment online, pointing out that matches involving star players deserve better production standards and wider accessibility. While the BCCI attempted to meet fan demand by releasing highlight packages on its domestic cricket handle, the underwhelming video quality only added to the criticism.

In the end, two remarkable innings that should have dominated headlines were overshadowed by questions about coverage, leaving fans hoping future domestic games get the attention they truly deserve.
