The ICC World Cup 2019 finally came to an end last night after the England team defeated the Kiwis in a very exciting and nail-biting game. The game was full of drama and everyone who watched it felt the adrenaline rush regardless of their nationality. England cricket team held the world cup the trophy for the very first time in its home ground and created history.

During the last over of England’s inning, the team needed 9 runs to win the game in 3 balls. Ben Stokes hit the ball close to the boundary but it was caught and thrown back. Stokes who dived after taking the second run accidentally hit the ball with his bat and the ball was deflected off towards the unguarded boundary. England got unexpected 6 runs and the gap between the balls and runs contracted to 3 runs in 2 balls.

The unfortunate overthrow turned the game in England’s favor. Reportedly Ben said, “Not the way I wanted to do it, the ball going off my bat like that, I apologized to Kane. I said to Kane I’ll be apologizing for that for the rest of my life.”

After the match New Zealand Captain, Kane Williamson commented, “That [the Stokes deflection] was a bit of a shame, wasn’t it? You just hope it doesn’t happen in moments like that. I don’t wish to nitpick, just hope it never happens in such moments ever again.”
