‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ was definitely a turning point in the career of Big B, don’t you agree? Apart from that, this show also connected him to several such people, who must have not even thought in their wildest of dreams that they would ever get a chance to meet this big persona.
Everyone loved the show; specially the way Amitabh Bachchan and contestants used to share stories with each other and have fun cherishing those memories.
But, there were even such contestants who had some painful stories to share, which brought tears to Big B’s eyes. Yes you heard it right; Mr. Bachchan was moved to hear the story of one such contestant and till date he hasn’t forgotten it.
During a Facebook chat session, Big B shared this story and you too would be left teary eyed after reading it. Want to know the story? Here it is..
“A young lady came on the hot seat in one of the episodes. I asked her about her life and she said she grew up in a village and after 7th or 8th standard. Her parents stopped her education as the entire village was saying ‘isko aur zyaada padhane ki zarurat nahi hai ‘ why are you wasting your money on her. She will get married soon and go away and you will waste all your money. She felt very hurt by the remark and wanted to educate herself. So she fought with her parents. They threw her out of the house. She went to her grandmother’s place but her grandmother treated her equally badly. But she still pursued her study costs on her own and landed on the hot seat through her intelligence. She won Rs 25 lakh. When I signed the cheque and gave it to her, I asked her what will she do with the money. She replied I am going to take this cheque and show it to my father that even a daughter is an asset to family. I think every woman in this country should take this as an example.”
