The education in our country is judged by the marks and ranks. Students get the marks by simply cramming the books but that doesn’t give them any idea about real education.

However, a giant step in changing this system has been taken now.

AICTE i.e. All India Council for Technical Education has decided to change the syllabus of Engineering so that it can meet the industrial requirements. There have always been suggestions to increase the stress on practical education and that’s what has been taken care of now.

As per the TOI report, the number of credits required for theory have been reduced to 160 from 220 in the new curriculum. Industrial Internship has been declared mandatory and it has been said that 14 out of 160 credits will be for the summer internship.

Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar launched the revised curriculum today.

Prakash Javedkar appreciated the efforts of the regulatory body and said that the curriculum should be updated every year and reforms should be carried out regularly as per the needs of the industry.

Talking about their continuous efforts to improve the education system, he said-

“Quality education is the only way to progress and we have taken various initiatives to give impetus to its growth.”

He added-

“The existing syllabus has been revamped by preparing a model curriculum as an updated curriculum is a student’s right.”

Talking about the mandatory social and industrial internship he said that the inclusion will help engineering graduates connect with the need of the industry and society at large.

He also said the government is committed to provide the best teachers, infrastructure and scholarships to all the students.

Isn’t it amazing? What are your thoughts on it?
