BJP Leader Said “Shut Up” & Left Show When TV Anchor Asked Him Vande Mataram’s Meaning

A politician leaving a television debate midway is not a new thing but nowadays, they have started trying to bully anchors and insult them, especially if the anchor is a woman. They think it is quite easy to overpower them by verbally abusing them.

Prem Shukla, a senior leader of BJP, not only walked out of a show on India Today but also insulted the female anchor Devina Gupta and asked her to “shut up” when she asked him to explain the meaning of Vande Mataram on live television.

Devina questions the BJP leader whether they are not going against the slogan given by PM Modi which states “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas” (inclusive development) by continuously raising the issues which are connected to ideologies rather than development. She asked Prem Shukla to give his answer in 30 seconds.

The senior BJP leader first slammed the AIMIM corporators and went on to compare them with “street thugs” and “hooligans.” The leader also says that the ones who are taking sides of such people who can’t stand while national song is being played are also anti-nationals.

He was trying to justify whatever happened and termed it as an obligation which was made by the constitution. Moreover, he also brought the name of India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, into the discussion. When Devina asked him not to deviate from the main topic and questioned him whether he knows the meaning of Vande Mataram, he got angry and said, “Shut up”. After few moments, he walked out after removing his mic.

AIMIM is the largest opposition party in Aurangabad Municipal Corporation and its MLA Imtiyaz Jaleel said that only one corporator didn’t stand up and he would be asked to explain his stance. In his words,

“We have 25 corporators in the AMC and 24 of them stood up when the song was played. For the last two-and-a-half years, our corporators have always stood up whenever the national song was played at general body meetings.”
