BSNL Is All Set To Challenge Reliance Jio By Offering Same Tariff

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd is planning to launch a new tariff that just replicates plans of JIO. They believe that the entry of JIO with incredible services has become a big threat to the competitors.

Anupam Shrivastava, the managing director and chairman of BSNL informed that the telecom PSU will be changing the current plans soon for their clientele. After the grand launch of Reliance Jio 4G plans, BSNL triggered its novel boundless wire-line broadband plan’s teaser. The download cost would be Re. 1 per GB. They are hoping to mirror the plans of JIO thrivingly.

Straight from the horse’s mouth

The million dollar question, according to the chairman of BSNL, is whether they will sustain in the competition… They have no other option other than matching the tariff. He further says, “If tariff of JIO is aggressive, the tariff of BSNL and other operators is also going to be aggressive.”

Jio: Competition for other telecom service providers

Jio has been tagged as a strong contender by many other telecom service providers. The magnetic services by Jio have already attracted a horde of the crowd. He thinks that BSNL can provide same or better tariffs than JIO. He further adds, “We are landline and optical fibre operator so our broadband tariff rides on our own network… We don’t have to start procuring, investing and then come out with offerings.”

Perky offers by BSNL till date

In coming days BSNL may announce more enviable tariffs, says the director. There are numerous offers by BSNL for the convenience of the users. Unlimited night calls of any network between 9pm to 7am is one such praiseful service. They also commenced free unlimited calls on both mobile and landline on Sundays. They have also released a limitless 3G mobile plan for Rs. 1099. The data usage has been dualized for some existing plans.

And the burning question…

When asked, will BSNL ever offer free voice calls for its mobile users? Shrivastava bluntly answered, “We will think about…” After analyzing the market situation for next 2-3 months, we may consider offering the same plan on some fixed monthly rate from the network. “Fixed-mobile convergence may be the basis of free voice calls,” Shrivastava concludes.
