Richa Ghosh’s journey from the small town of Siliguri to becoming one of India’s brightest cricketing stars has been nothing short of inspiring. After playing a key role in India’s historic ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 victory, the young wicketkeeper-batter is set to receive a special honour from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, November 8.

Richa, who was instrumental in India’s title-winning campaign, will be presented with a gold-plated bat and ball signed by Sourav Ganguly and Jhulan Goswami, two of the greatest cricketing legends of Bengal. The felicitation marks a proud moment for Bengal cricket, celebrating one of its own who has made the state and the nation proud on the world stage.

The CAB President Sourav Ganguly praised Richa for her exceptional talent, calmness under pressure and unwavering determination. Richa Ghosh’s performance in the World Cup reflected her consistency and courage. She scored 235 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 133.52, with standout innings of 94 off 77 balls against South Africa in the league stage and a quick 34 off 24 in the final at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Behind the stumps, she also proved her worth, completing four catches during the tournament.

Now as Richa Ghosh returns to the Eden Gardens, the ground that shaped so many cricketing legends, she stands as a symbol of Bengal’s sporting spirit and India’s bright future in women’s cricket.
