Chetan Sharma, the current chief national selector of the BCCI is making headlines for all the wrong reasons as he has made some serious and shocking statements in the sting operation that has been carried out on him by an Indian news channel. He stated that Sourav Ganguly never liked Virat Kohli, they both had ego clashes and Virat tried to defame and malign the image of Ganguly by making him look a liar.
Chetan Sharma also says that some players of the Indian team take injections to get match-ready and these injections don’t get caught in the dope test. He further states that there is no rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as it has been hyped by the media and fans of both the cricketers. Chetan Sharma who is serving his second tenure as the chief national selector also claims that many players such as Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Umesh Yadav, etc. either talk to him on phone or visit his house for talking about their future in cricket.
Chetan Sharma also reveals that all the selectors know that Indian Twitterati will blow them up if they don’t select Sanju Samson. He further adds that big players such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested from T20Is in order to give chance to young players.

A BCCI official has responded on this matter and stated that Chetan Sharma has spoken too much and there is not much truth in whatever he has said as no Indian player especially the big players are interested in talking to him. The official asks the mediaperson whether he has seen any big player like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli or Rahul Dravid talking to Chetan Sharma. He further adds that during the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, Chetan Sharma was standing in a corner and no one went to talk to him.
The BCCI official also says that this sting operation will have a big impact on the relation between a journalist and a player/selector because now no player will like to share a good relation with a mediaperson as the trust has been compromised.
As per reports, the BCCI will certainly take an action against the chief selector but it is also being said that he will be given a chance to defend himself.
