The manner in which the Indian batters have got troubled against the England spinners, many felt that India is missing the senior batter Cheteshwar Pujara. The absence of Virat Kohli has also increased the concerns of team India and there are some who are suggesting that Pujara who is currently playing the Ranji Trophy should be given a comeback.

However, the selectors have already announced the team for the remaining three test matches and they have made it clear that they are not looking back, they are interested in only looking at youngsters now.

The last international test match which Cheteshwar Pujara played for India was the World Test Championship final which India lost to Australia.

During an interview, Cheteshwar Pujara has revealed that he has improved his batting by adding sweep shots (regular and reverse) in his armour.

He says that in this Ranji season, there have been some pitches which have turned well such as the pitch used in the match against Rajasthan. According to him, on a turning pitch, a batter should not allow the bowler to settle down and he needs to reinvent himself. He adds that in the last 18 months to 2 years, he has developed sweep shot and reverse sweep as well and he is using them nowadays and with these sweeps, his game has become better, in fact more all-round.

Pujara further says that if a batter doesn’t believe in his defense, then he will have the fear of getting out on such pitches so it is better to mix all (attack and defense) together.

When Cheteshwar Pujara was asked whether he is looking for making a comeback in the Indian team, he said that his proudest moment was when he represented the country as there is a feeling of pride when a batter walks out to bat for India and there is nothing bigger than that. He added that the feeling for fighting and winning the game for the country is bigger than any other feeling on the Earth and whenever the opportunity to play for the country will come, he will be ready with the same passion and pride with which he has always played.
