The Rabari community has replaced cows with the trophies in a cricket tournament as an attempt to spread awareness about the significance of cows. Basically, the Rabari community members are cattle farmers and despite the fact that the community has grown and developed now, they still love to stay connected with their roots.

It was in 2016 that they came up with the method of awarding the man of the match with a cow so that it would further help in educating people about the importance of cows. Prakash Rabari, the organiser of the tournament, said,

“With this tournament, we want to send a message that cow is a very important component of our society. Rabari community has always protected the cattle as it is our livelihood.”

As there is so much of politics around cows, this time the community decided to give a “Gyr” calf to all the players of the team which won the tournament. Raju Rabari, a player, said,

“We want the state to recognize cow as the National Animal, only then we can save them.”

He further said that each player felt happy and proud after receiving the prize.

What do you think about the special method of the Rabari community?
