Cricketers Who Are Surprisingly Missing From Indian Test Team Even After Superb Performances

The Australian cricket team is all set to visit India for playing the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 which will start from 9 February 2023 and the first match of the 4-match test series will be played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The last three Border-Gavaskar Trophy tournaments have been won by India so Australia will certainly look forward to win it and at the same time, the Aussies will make attempts to win their first test series in India in the last 19 years. However whenever we talk about the historic win of India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-2021, we get to recall the young players who played an important role in India’s win, especially in the third and the fourth test matches which were played at Sydney and Gabba, Brisbane, respectively. Nevertheless surprisingly, few faces from the winning squad of the BGT 2020-2021 are missing from the current Indian test squad which will face Australia in the first two test matches.

In this article, we will talk about four Indian players who suddenly got dropped from the Indian team and they were not even considered for the upcoming BGT 2023:

1. Hanuma Vihari:

The 29 years old Indian cricketer was an integral part of the Indian test team till some time back but he lost his place with the emergence of new players. Hanuma Vihari played a crucial role in saving the team from defeat in the Sydney test match despite getting injured otherwise the Australians would have gained an advantage by winning their second test match.

The cricketer is once again making headlines as he left everyone shocked by batting with a fractured wrist in the ongoing quarterfinal of the Ranji Trophy match between Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Hanuma Vihari who is the skipper of Andhra Pradesh got injured on the bowling of Avesh Khan and after scans, it was revealed that his wrist got fractured. After AP lost its 9th wicket, Hanuma Vihari went to bat and he batted left-handed in order to ensure that he did not injure his fractured wrist any more. Cricket lovers not only saluted him for his commitment towards his team but they also praised him a lot after he sent a Yorker for a four.

2. Washington Sundar:

The young cricketer was also a part of the Indian squad which won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 but he got away from cricketing action because of injuries. Though Washigton Sundar is a part of India’s limited over team which has whitewashed the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand, he is not included in the Indian team which will play the first two matches of the BGT2023.

3. T. Natarajan:

The Tamil Nadu cricketer went on the Australia tour 2020-21 as a net bowler but due to increasing injuries in the Indian camp, he got the chance to play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 and later on, he also played in ODIs and T20Is. T. Natarajan who has a reputation of bowling Yorkers as will is the first Indian cricketer who made his international debut in all the three formats on the same tour. However, he lost his place in the Indian team after he suffered an injury in the IPL 2022 and as of now, he is not even in consideration for the BGT2023.

4. Karun Nair:

Karun Nair who plays for Karnataka at the domestic level made his international test debut in the year 2016 against England. He has played only 6 test matches for India but what surprises everyone is the fact that he got dropped even after scoring a triple hundred. He is the second Indian cricketer to hit a triple century after the former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag so Karun Nair not getting more chances to play is certainly a mystery.
