CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan Breaks Silence On MS Dhoni’s Fitness & Preparation For IPL 2024

The auctions for the IPL 2024 took place a week back and now all the franchises have an overall view of their teams which will play in the tournament which is slated to start from 22 March tentatively.

There are a lot of speculations regarding the future of MS Dhoni as a skipper and a player as many feel that he will be playing his last IPL this year. The situation was pretty similar in the IPL 2023 too; however after winning the trophy, MS Dhoni said that it is perfect time for him to walk away but because of the huge love and support that he has got wherever he has gone to play, he plans to come back and play one more time for fans.

Nevertheless, this year, the basis for the speculations is Dhoni’s knee injury. Throughout the IPL 2023, MS Dhoni was bearing a lot of pain and just after the tournament got over, he underwent knee surgery at Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai which was successful.

Recently when CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was asked to speak in regard to the speculations, he chose to remain mum as he said that he has no idea about it and he told mediapersons to ask the questions directly to the captain because he (MS Dhoni) never tells them what he is going to do.

While speaking at the launch event of Junior Super Kings, CEO Kasi Viswanathan talked about the fitness of the former Indian skipper and said that Mahi is doing pretty well now; he has started rehab and working out in gym and most probably in the next 10 days, MSD will start the net practice as well. He also said that CSK will start their first preparatory camp in the first week of March as most probably the IPL 2024 will start from 22 March.

In the auctions of the IPL 2024 which took place on 19 December in Coca-Cola arena, CSK made 6 purchases – Shardul Thakur (₹4 crore), Daryl Mitchell (₹14 crore), Rachin Ravindra (₹1.8 crore), Sameer Rizvi (₹8.4 crore), Mustafizur Rahman (₹2 crore) and Avanish Rao Aravelly (₹20 lakh).

Talking about the auctions, the CEO said that they got almost all the targets and it was a good auction for them.
