Dana Majhi Known For His ‘Death Walk’ Received Financial Aid Of Rs. 8.87 Lakh From Bahrain PM!

Last month we read about Dana Majhi who carried the body of his dead wife on his shoulder back home. The news spread like fire nationwide. A 45 year-old tribal farmer from Kalahandi, Odisha made national headlines when the picture of his death walk published. It was then that he received all the attention needed.

A below average earning farmer who barely managed to extract Rs. 2,000 a month for his survival, Majhi is now provided with financial-aid from all over. Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has offered free education to his three daughters. The district administration has granted Rs. 75,000 under the Pradhan Mantri Grameen Awas Yojana. The Red Cross Fund and other state government schemes offered Rs. 50,000. Many more such organisations and individuals came to his help. The most interesting of them all was a cheque amounting Rs. 8.87 Lakh.
