According to reports, the incident took place on Sunday night in Maroubra. David Warner was found to have alcohol levels nearly twice the legal limit after undergoing a breath test. Police revealed that his vehicle had stopped and parked just before reaching a random testing point on Malabar Road, which drew the attention of officers on duty.

Officials from the NSW Police stated that they approached the car and conducted a roadside breath test, which showed a positive result. David Warner was then taken to Maroubra Police Station, where further testing recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.1. As per legal procedure, he is expected to appear in court in May.

Authorities explained that the testing operation was part of a routine check being carried out in the area around 5:30 pm on April 5, 2026. When David Warner’s vehicle stopped short of the checkpoint, officers decided to investigate, leading to the discovery.

Despite this off-field issue, David Warner has continued his professional commitments in the Pakistan Super League for now. However, the legal proceedings will require his presence in court soon.

David Warner, now 39, retired from international cricket in 2024 and has since moved into media roles alongside playing franchise cricket. His retirement announcement had come as a surprise, as he stepped away just weeks before Australia’s ODI series against the West Indies in January 2024. He had also indicated earlier that he would not extend his ODI career beyond 2024, choosing instead to focus on T20 leagues around the world.
