Gauri Shinde’s debut movie “English Vinglish” had received a lot of appreciation from people & this had made them curious for “Dear Zindagi”, her 2nd venture.
The film was in spotlight due to association of popular actors SRK and Alia Bhatt. The promos and the teasers further intensified the buzz.
There were predictions by trade experts which stated that the film would get a decent opening and wouldn’t be as grand as SRK’s other movies. However, the predictions seem to be wrong, as the first day collections have taken the box office by storm.
The film received a positive feedback from viewers and critics both; let us have a look at the first day collections…

The movie collected 8.75 crores on its first day of release, which is just so amazing. Positive word of mouth is expected to boost the collections further. However, it has surpassed the record of English Vinglish, that collected Rs 2.5 crores on the opening day.
The movie has been released in over 1200 screens India and around 600 screens outside India, bringing the total to 1800 screens.
Let us hope for improved numbers on the weekend. What’s your take on this? Do share your views with us in our comments section below.
