“Kahaani 2”, the much hyped movie of Vidya Balan has received an average response at the Box Office on its 1st day. However, the film has successfully beaten the 1st day collection of Kahaani i.e. 2.95 crores.
There had been a lot of buzz about this 2nd installment, thanks to the massive promotions by the makers. However, this publicity and hype didn’t fetch the expected numbers. Even the advance booking for the opening day was very poor. But when we see its competition with the SRK starrer Dear Zindagi, numbers look good.
Let us have a look at how much it collected;

On the first day, the movie minted 4.25 crores, which is “Average”. It could have garnered more, but bad luck for the makers.
Kahaani 2 released in 1200 screens all over the country, but the occupancy rate was very low i.e. 25 percent. However, evening shows and night shows saw a boost, due to positive word of mouth by the audience as they loved Arjun Rampal and Vidya Balan’s brilliant performances. Let us see how much it collects over the weekend.
Dear Zindagi!
On the other hand, Dear Zindagi is continuing its run towards the 50 crore club. Yes, it has almost reached it now!
Have a look at the 8th day collections;

On Friday, the movie collected 2.25 crores, bringing the total to 49.25 crores and now, there is 100 percent surety of 50 crores club. It will cross the mark today itself, which is amazing. Kahaani 2’s 1st day collections are half of Dear Zindagi’s 1st day collection; this proves the power of SRK. But if you look at the 8th day collections, they are very low, may be due to the release of this Vidya Balan starrer.
Day 1- 8.75 crores!
Day 2- 11.25 crores!
Day 3- 12.50 crores!
Day 4- 4.25 crores!
Day 5- 4 crores!
Day 6- 3.25 crores!
Day 7- 3 crores!
Day 8- 2.25 crores!
Total- 49.25 crores!
