Deepak Chahar Didn’t Appeal For Mankad, Fans Say, “Maybe He Let It Go Since Kaia Was Innocent”

Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian spinner has attracted many controversies in his career, the biggest being related to mankading. In the IPL 2019, Ashwin mankaded Jos Buttler during a match and he was slammed by many former cricketers and fans for going against the spirit of the game but Ashwin was unperturbed with all the criticism and he made it clear that whatever he did was within the laws of the game and he would do it again on getting a chance to do so.

Some time back, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has announced that mankading is legal and now it will be known as a form of run out. It also states that this step has been taken because the bowler is usually targeted in such a scenario but in reality, it is the non-striker who is out of the crease.

In the third and the final ODI between India and Zimbabwe which was played yesterday at Harare Sports Club, an incident related to mankading took place but with a twist.

India won the toss and after batting first, it gave a target of 290 runs to the hosts which they were not able to chase successfully and lost the match by 13 runs. However during the match when the Zimbabwean openers Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Innocent Kaia were on the crease, the Indian pacer Deepak Chahar removed the bails as non-striker Innocent Kaia was out of the crease but the Indian bowler didn’t appeal for the run-out.

The video of the incident has gone viral, here it is:
