Gurugram has been ashamed once again as a widow and her daughter got raped by a 23-yr old man for three weeks. The city was already in a state of shock after a 19-yr old woman was raped in Manesar by three men who also brutally killed her nine-month baby.
On Friday, police arrested the 23-year accused on the charges of repeatedly raping mother (35) and daughter (15) for three weeks and blackmailing them by recording the rape acts. It would come to you as a great surprise that the man’s father serves in Delhi police as a sub-inspector. The police scrutinized the phone of the accused and found 10 such video clips which were shot inside the woman’s house in Gurugram.
The name of the accused is Ashish Kumar and he is a student of BA final year. It was on Friday that he was arrested from the house of the woman. She decided to file a complaint against him as he was also targeting her daughter.
Ashish is a resident of Amar Colony of the Gokalpur area, Delhi, and he met the woman in a market in Rajendra park, Gurugram, nearly 25 days ago. As per the police complaint by the woman, they both started talking when they met in the market and as she found nothing doubtful, she gave her address to Ashish and since then, Ashish had been visiting her house regularly.
He visited the woman for the first time on the same day in evening and at that time, her daughter (15) and son (11) were playing outside. Ashish raped her and then it became a regular routine. He also assaulted the daughter and blackmailed them with the clips that he shot.
The woman hails from Uttarakhand and her husband died last year. She is working in a private company while her daughter is studying in Class X.
Ashish has been booked by the police under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and sections 4 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012.
We need some stricter laws when it comes to crimes like rape but what’s even more important is the implementation and speedy execution of the law.
