Delhi’s Mohit Ahlawat shattered all records by becoming the first batsman in the world to score a 300 in a T20 match today. He took just 72 balls to score his 300 with the help of 39 sixes and 14 fours. He was representing Maavi XI against Friends XI in a local Delhi tournament.
The match does not have any official status but the record breaking innings of 21-year-old Mohit does. No player has ever managed to score 300 even in a local T20 game. The highest score in all T20 matches before this was 277 off 72 balls scored by Dhanuka Pathirana in a local T20 league in Lancashire, England. The Sri Lankan batsman managed to get 29 sixes and 18 fours in his innings. Mohit has thus managed to get his name above him with his sensational knock earlier today.
The heroics of Mohit went viral after a few statsmen tweeted about his innings. However, there was an argument that Mohit might have scored even more than 300.

Mohit completely destroyed his opponents bowling attack from the word go. After the end of 18 overs, Mohit was on 250 and in the last 2 overs he blasted another 50 runs. He scored 34 runs in the final over including a streak of 5 consecutive sixes in the last 5 balls of the innings. He managed to take his team’s total to a mammoth 416/2 in the stipulated 20 overs.
Mohit made his debut for Delhi back in 2015 against Rajasthan. The right-handed wicketkeeper batsman has only played three matches for Delhi where he has scored a total of five runs. However, this innings from him will surely turn a few selector’s heads towards him.
In international T20 cricket, even the whole team has also never managed a score of anything near 300. The highest team total in the T20 is 263 which is shared by by IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore and Australia. The highest individual score in a T20 match is 175 scored by the marauding Chris Gayle. The record for the highest score in international T20s belongs to Australia’s Aaron Finch.
