Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma’s divorce earlier this year drew a great deal of public attention. While Chahal had indirectly expressed his feelings after the court hearing, Dhanashree had stayed silent, until she finally spoke about it in a recent emotional interview.

She shared how painful the moment was for her and her family when the court finalised the end of their five-year marriage. Dhanashree said that even though she was mentally prepared, she broke down when the verdict was announced. She began crying openly in front of people in the courtroom and said that she still cannot fully describe the pain she felt at that time.

Afterward, she avoided the media and quietly left through a back gate, not wanting any cameras around her. Dhanashree recalled wearing just a simple T-shirt and jeans, sitting anxiously in the car with her best friend, still shaking and trying to catch her breath. She said that she already knew people would blame her for the divorce no matter what, and that fear made the moment even harder.

Yuzvendra Chahal Called Dhanashree “Self-Made” Before He Gave “Be Your Sugar Daddy” Message

Later, she saw the T-shirt that Yuzvendra Chahal wore outside the court and was shocked. Dhanashree said that even before that, she expected judgment from the public but this gesture made her ask herself why she had even been crying. She described how she suddenly felt it was all over and that she should stop feeling bad. Seeing the stunt actually helped her realise she had to move forward and oddly enough, it gave her the strength to laugh and move on from the pain.

When the interviewer asked if she felt Chahal was sending a final message through that T-shirt, she laughed and said that if he wanted to say something, he could have simply messaged her instead on WhatsApp.

Yuzvendra Chahal, during a podcast, had spoken about the incident from his point of view. He claimed that something had happened from the other side which pushed him to wear the message and that he finally decided to do whatever he felt like, regardless of what people would think.

The couple had filed for divorce in February 2024 and it was officially finalised earlier this year. Since the split, Dhanashree has faced online trolling, while reports suggest that Chahal is now dating content creator RJ Mahvash.
