Know the controversy!

Dhoni was the brand ambassador of this telecom company but the deal had expired long back in 2012. After that, he had accused the firm, stating that even after the deal has expired, his image and name are being used as endorsements.

He had filed a contempt of court plea against the company in Delhi High Court in the year 2014. Thereafter, Max Mobilink was banned from using his image or name on the products.

Then, a fresh petition was filed by Law firm C & C Associates, which stated that the firm continued using his videos, image and name on Facebook page and website, thereby violating the court orders. There were also allegations that the company continued to sell MSD 07 phone, which was named after him, had his jersey number and images on the box.

However, Maxx Mobilink Pvt Ltd has not kept quiet over this; it has accused the Captain Cool for his false claims and attempt to mislead the court, thereby putting him in big trouble.

However, Mr. Ajay R Agarwal, the MD of Maxx Mobilink rubbished Dhoni’s claims and said that after 17th of November (When court imposed orders), 2014, they had not sold any products which already had the image or name of the Captain Cool on it.

He also stated that much before 17th November 2014, they had stopped using his image and name. Mr. Agarwal said that

“I say and submit that the company has removed all material from its own websites and from social media websites including Facebook. However, at this juncture, I say and submit that the petitioner number one (Dhoni) is guilty of wilfully misleading this court for the sake of creating alarmist circumstances.”

On 21st of April, the MD received court orders to submit all the necessary ‘Proofs’ opposing the claim i.e. steps that were taken for removing images and name of Dhoni.

Now, there was a court hearing on Tuesday, wherein Dhoni’s counsel is given time to rejoinder the opposition’s claim. The next hearing is on 24th of January.
