While promoting his latest film Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, Rakesh Bedi addressed questions about whether the movie carries any political agenda and his response has grabbed attention.
Instead of directly engaging in the “propaganda” debate, Rakesh Bedi chose to focus on what truly matters to him, the audience’s reaction. In simple terms, he said films should not be boxed into labels like pro- or anti-establishment. According to him, cinema is about storytelling and ultimately, it’s the viewers who decide a film’s success or failure.
During the conversation, Rakesh Bedi made an indirect comparison with Emergency, starring Kangana Ranaut. He pointed out that even films based on big political figures, including those centered around Indira Gandhi or Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have struggled to perform at the box office. His point was simple – no matter the subject, a film only works if the audience connects with it.
On the other hand, Rakesh Bedi couldn’t stop praising Dhurandhar 2. He described the film as a massive success, highlighting its strong writing, engaging screenplay and large-scale production. The response from audiences, he said, has been overwhelming, with shows running continuously and theatres witnessing huge crowds. According to him, the level of excitement and craze around the film is something he hasn’t seen in his long career.
The movie starring Ranveer Singh continues the story from its first part.
