Team India winning a bilateral series is nothing new as it has won many in the last few years but India hasn’t won any ICC trophy since 2013 and with the manner in which the Indian squad has got knock out from the multi-nation events; the time is not far when India will be the new chokers of the cricket world.

The recent failure of team India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 compelled the Board of Control for Cricket in India to take some big measures and surprisingly it sacked the whole selection committee headed by former Indian pacer Chetan Sharma.

The Indian side suffered a humiliating defeat by 10 wickets against England in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup and this was fourth time under these selectors that India failed in winning a multi-nation event, the earlier three were – ICC World Test Championship, ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and Asia Cup 2022. The BCCI has also invited fresh applications for the post of selectors and hopefully very soon we will get to hear the names of new selectors.

The Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik who was a part of the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 spoke up on this matter recently in an interview and he found it a very interesting development. DK said that nobody felt this could happen but it is also a great opportunity for the new selectors so let’s see how things proceed.

Talking about the word “sack” which is being used, he said that ‘sack’ has been used a lot but the tenure of selectors was also coming to an end. According to him, the job of a selector is a thankless and very tough job as they have to select only 15 players out of a pool of 40-45 players and to ensure that the players selected by them are capable enough to play for the country. Talking about the ousted selectors, DK said that they did a good job and the new selectors would certainly have to make some strong decisions.

Recently, an ousted selector gave an interview in which he said that the selection committee has been made the scapegoat but the board should also have taken the blame.

What is your take on sacking of the selection committee? Let us know.
