Disha Patani, one of the most loved young stars of Bollywood, is known for not just her films but also her warm personality and fashion sense. Behind the glamour, she shares a close bond with her family, especially her father who is a retired police officer. However, her family’s peace was recently shaken when her ancestral home in Bareilly became the target of a shocking firing incident.
The attack took place in the early hours of September 12, when multiple gunshots were fired at her house in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area. Thankfully, no one was hurt but the family was left shaken. Soon after, Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, already infamous for his strong ties to organized crime, claimed responsibility for the incident through a social media post.
He alleged that the attack was carried out because of remarks reportedly made by Disha and her sister Khushbu about two religious figures — Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya. The post even warned that the firing was “just a trailer” of more violence to come. Though the message was deleted the next day and the account vanished by evening, the threat created widespread concern.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally reached out to Disha’s father Jagdish Singh Patani and assured him that the government and police would ensure their safety. Meanwhile, the police immediately launched a large-scale manhunt to track down those behind the attack.
Investigations revealed that two men — Ravindra alias Kallu from Rohtak and Arun from Sonipat in Haryana — were directly involved in the firing. Both were linked to the Goldy Brar-Rohit Godara gang, which has been associated with several cases of violence. The police traced their movements and found that the duo had reached Ghaziabad on September 15.
On September 17, around 7:20 in the evening, the Delhi Police Special Cell along with Uttar Pradesh and Haryana STF teams cornered them near Tronica City. The officers tried to stop their bike and asked them to surrender. Instead of giving in, the men opened fire, triggering a fierce gun battle. During the encounter, Ravindra was shot in the chest while Arun sustained serious injuries to his neck and chest. Both were rushed for treatment but could not survive.
The encounter marked the end of a tense week that had begun with a violent attack on the Patani family’s home. While the swift police action has brought some relief, the incident has once again highlighted the disturbing reach of criminal gangs operating across states and even beyond India’s borders.
