Cricket matches often deliver moments that go beyond runs and wickets and the fourth T20I between India and New Zealand in Vizag on Wednesday, January 28, produced one such unforgettable moment. This time, it wasn’t just the action on the field that grabbed attention but a witty remark from the commentary box that left fans laughing.

The moment came during New Zealand’s first innings when opener Tim Seifert faced India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. In the fifth over, Bumrah bowled a rare half-volley and Tim Seifert didn’t miss the opportunity. He drove the ball cleanly down the ground for a massive six, a shot that immediately stood out given how difficult it usually is to dominate Bumrah.
Watching the stroke unfold, Hindi commentator Aakash Chopra highlighted how uncommon it is to see a batter hit such a six against a bowler of Bumrah’s quality. That’s when former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel jumped in with a line that instantly became the talking point. He said, “Ye kaamal ka shot khela hai Tim Seifert ne. Woh bhi Jasprit Bumrah ke khilaaf. Jyada tar aese shots lagte nahi hain. Par yeh toh documentary banayenge bhi nahi.”

The comment sent the commentary box into laughter and quickly caught the attention of viewers. Parthiv Patel’s remark was a playful dig at Pakistani batter Sahibzada Farhan, who had earlier been featured in a documentary in Pakistan for hitting Jasprit Bumrah for a few sixes during the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai. Sahibzada Farhan’s brief success against Bumrah had turned him into an overnight sensation, complete with a grand welcome back home, even though Pakistan lost all the three matches against India, including the final.
Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time Sahibzada Farhan became the subject of humour during Hindi commentary. Earlier in the season, during India vs South Africa T20I series, Aakash Chopra had made a similar joke after Aiden Markram hit Jasprit Bumrah for a six in Cuttack. Aakash Chopra had then said that hitting Bumrah for a six is not easy and some people make a documentary when they hit him for a six just by chance.
Moments like these underline just how rare it is to dominate Jasprit Bumrah. His numbers speak for themselves, with an exceptional T20I economy rate of 6.44, 107 wickets, and 86 matches. When someone does manage to clear the ropes against him, it’s bound to spark reactions, both on the field and in the commentary box.
