Rajeev Khandelwal, now a familiar name in both television and cinema, didn’t have a smooth entry into the entertainment world. His journey began with resistance not from outsiders but from within his own family. Coming from an army background, Rajeev grew up in a disciplined, middle-class environment where practical career choices were encouraged and dreams like acting were often dismissed as unrealistic.
In a recent interview, Rajeev Khandelwal opened up about the emotional and personal struggle he endured when he told his parents about his desire to become an actor. He recalled being thrown out of his house after revealing his intentions, not because his family didn’t care but because they simply couldn’t understand the world he wanted to step into. He explained how his parents were baffled, questioning why he had suddenly become so determined to act despite speaking about it since childhood. They never thought he would turn that childhood fascination into a serious profession.
Rajeev remembered a particularly harsh moment when his father bluntly told him that there was no money to support such dreams. He interpreted those words as an ultimatum, either conform to the conventional academic path or walk away and figure it out on his own. For Rajeev, that moment became a turning point. The rejection only deepened his resolution to prove himself.
His perseverance paid off and Rajeev rose to fame with the popular television show Kahiin To Hoga, winning over audiences with his powerful screen presence. He made his Bollywood debut with the critically acclaimed film Aamir in 2008 and later starred in movies like Table No. 21, Shaitan, Samrat & Co., Fever and Bloody Daddy.
Most recently, he appeared in the action-packed web series The Secret of the Shiledars, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. Set against a historical backdrop, the show features Rajeev leading a team on a high-stakes treasure hunt tied to the legendary legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He shared the screen with notable names like Sai Tamhankar and Ashish Vidyarthi.
