Whenever you visit any big city, you would have come across a begging woman holding a child at the supermarket, shopping center, bus station, railway station or traffic junctions. However the scene is more common in Vizag.
However, you must not be aware that these women are not their biological mothers. Even if you come across some expectant mothers who seek alms, don’t fall for them, as they fake the pregnancy.
A Satyanarayana told the sources that they conducted a drive at major junctions such as hotels, super markets, Satyam Junction, RK beach, RTC complex and NTC. These women feel that if they fake pregnancy and carry crying infants, instant emotional response would be received from crowd.
They have identified around 17 such women. However these babies are on hire. Talking about this, B Naresh Kumar, the president of Yuva NGO stated that these mothers earn around 300 to 500 everyday, out of which 200 are paid of to the biological parents of the child. In some cases, a group of women hire 1 baby and carry it on different city junctions in shifts.
