The professor named Sanjeev Dayal used to live with his wife Vidya in Twin Towers flat at Sharda Nagar, Kanpur, and they had boycotted the society for the last four months. On Monday night, the neighbors observed a stinking smell coming from the professor’s flat and they immediately called police.

When the door was opened, it was found that Sanjeev (50) was lying completely dressed in one room and his beard reached his stomach (for not shaving all through this period) while his wife was found under the bed in a naked condition.

They both were surrounded by loads of excrement which created an unbearable atmosphere. It was seen that the toilet door was blocked by fitting heavy wooden planks on it. The professor and his wife were unconscious and admitted in LLR hospital. A source from the hospital told, “Their heartbeats and pulse rate are irregular. We are doing all we can.”

As per Dr JS Kushwaha, the case in-charge, the couple had not eaten anything for the last few days. The police of Kalyanpur station is trying to find out whether they both were suffering from any psychiatric disease or depression. CCTV cameras were installed in both the rooms and police is examining the footage to find out any lead regarding the case.

However, the neighbors and relatives were of no help in finding out the reason behind this condition of the couple. It is said that an electrician was called by them four times in last few months but the door was never opened for him.

Sanjeev used to conduct classes for students who wanted to clear the engineering entrance exams while Vidya was a contractual teacher at CSA University. What’s more, the couple doesn’t have any kid.

Why did the couple behave like this? What do you think about it? Share your views in the comments section below.
