There was a lot of controversy surrounding Oppo getting sponsorship rights of Indian Cricket Team for the upcoming Champions Trophy; RSS even asked to scrap the deal immediately, but thankfully, things are sorted now. Just like a foreign brand is sponsoring our team, even India’s famous brand would be the main sponsor for the New Zealand team. You heard that right; any guesses which brand we are talking about?
Well, it’s none other than India’s favorite dairy brand “Amul”. This announcement was made by the Managing Director of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (Apex marketing body of Amul), RS Sodhi.
At a press conference, he said, “Amul will be the principal sponsors of the New Zealand cricket team for the upcoming Champions Trophy.”
He further added,
“We are excited about being associated with New Zealand cricket for the first time and Amul welcomes the Blackcaps to the family. Coming from a strong farming and cooperative dairy culture, the New Zealand association is a perfect fit, reflecting our quality and values.”
It would be amazing to see “Amul” logo on the New Zealand jerseys and training kits, isn’t it?
On the other hand, even James Wear, New Zealand Cricket’s commercial director said that this is an exciting partnership; he added that they are looking for a long term relation with GCMMF. According to Wear, this partnership will not only be beneficial and exciting for New Zealand but will also enhance the value of Amul, as the brand is being showcased on such a big platform.
The tournament is all set to start on the 1st of June 2017; aren’t you eagerly waiting for some exciting matches?
