The three former Indian cricketers – Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina are making headlines for all the wrong reasons even after winning the World Championship of Legends, an exhibition T20 tournament which was played in UK.
The Indian team which was led by Yuvraj Singh defeated Younis Khan-led Pakistan squad in the final match by 5 wickets. The match was played on 13 July 2024 at Edgbaston, Birmingham and after lifting the trophy, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina were seen in a video in which all three of them were seen limping on the tunes of the song, “Tauba Tauba”.
As per the cricketers, they were trying to show the effect of playing cricket for 15 days on their ageing bodies but many people especially the disabled persons including the famous para-badminton star Manasi Joshi took it as an insult and slammed the former cricketers for mocking people with disabilities.

Harbhajan Singh has deleted the video from his account and issued an apology, stating that they didn’t want to hurt anyone’s sentiments but a police case has been registered against all three of them.
Harbhajan Singh wrote in his apology post, “Just wanted to clear to our people who are complaining about our recent videos of Tauba Tauba on social media after winning the championship here in England. We didn’t want to hurt anyone’s sentiments. We respect every individual and community. And this video was just to reflect to our bodies after playing continues cricket for 15 days. SORE bodies.. we r not trying to insult or offend anyone.. still if people think we hv done something wrong ..All I can say from my side. SORRY to everyone .. plz let’s stop this here and move forward. Stay happy and healthy. Love to all. Regards.”

Arman Ali, the Executive Director of the National Council for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP), took this act of the former cricketers seriously and he filed a police complaint against them for insulting more than 10 crore disabled people of the country. He also filed a complaint against the social media platform, Instagram in Amar Colony police station for breaching the Information Technology Act.
In an interview, Arman Ali said, “When I saw the video of Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina where they were pretending like disabled, kind of mockery on a viral song, I think it’s an insult to more than 10 crore disabled people of India.”
Arman Ali further said, “Harbhajan Singh is an MP, and he should raise his voice for the disabled, but what kind of video he is making?… In India, there is an acute lack of awareness concerning disabilities. You are spreading myth and making fun of them and that’s why I have filed a complaint…”

NCPEDP also took to their official X handle and informed everyone about the FIR that they have filed against the cricketers. It tweeted, “We filed an FIR against Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, and Gurkeerat Mann for mocking Persons with Disabilities in a reel over a viral song. Despite widespread media coverage, Persons with Disabilities are still waiting for a formal, actual apology!”
