We had set a lot of expectations from Tubelight, but everything got shattered as we watched the movie. Since it was a Salman Khan film, everyone thought it will be BIG, but this time, he has failed in wooing the audience. The Kabir Khan directorial has disappointed us; Salman’s movies Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan have created records on the opening day and we were waiting for Tubelight to do the same, but unfortunately, luck hasn’t favored the film.
On the 1st day, the occupancy was just 35-40 percent, which itself gave us the idea that collections are going to be low. Moreover, audience gave bad reviews after watching the film, which further affected the numbers.
Since this was a Salman Khan starrer, it still managed to earn over 20 crores on the first day. Let’s check out what Taran Adarsh has to say about the opening day collections…

On the first day, Tubelight got 21.15 crores, which is disappointing. At least 30 crores were expected, considering media hype and fan following of Salman.
If we compare Tubelight with other Salman Khan films, we see that it has got the lowest opening. Let us refresh our memories and see how much other Eid releases had minted on the first day.
2012- Ek Tha Tiger- 32.93 crores!
2014- Kick- 26.40 crores!
2015- Bajrangi Bhaijaan- 27.25 crores!
2016- Sultan- 36.54 crores!
2017- Tubelight- 21.15 crores!
Even the makers must be sad after seeing Tubelight’s opening day figure. We hope the film picks pace on Saturday and Sunday. Also, we apologize for our review yesterday; we have already deleted the same.
