We had earlier reported about Olympians getting a very bad treatment in North Korea after returning back , since they couldn’t meet the gold medal target given by their dictator Kim Jong. They along with their families were forced to work in coal mines and their ration cards (Only means to get food) were snatched.
However, you will be sad to know that North Korea is not the only country that is taking such harsh steps. There is another country which is not going to spare the athletes since they have failed at the Rio Olympics 2016. The other one we are talking about is Zimbabwe.
Robert Mugabe, the president of Zimbabwe has given an order to arrest the athletes since they couldn’t get any medals. Yes, those poor athletes have been arrested and imprisoned. Isn’t this punishment very harsh?
Reports say that Robert met Augustine Chihuri, Zimbabwe Police Republic’s Commissioner General and asked him to imprison the athletes immediately, soon after their arrival at Harare International Airport.
There were around 31 athletes representing Zimbabwe, and forget medals, no one could achieve beyond the 8th position.
Mugabe says
“We have wasted the country’s money on these rats we call athletes. If you are not ready to sacrifice and win even copper or brass medals (referring the 4th and 5th positions) as our neighbors Botswana did, then why do you go to waste our money”
