The probability of Indian Premier League 2020 taking place this year seems quite bleak as there are pretty good chances of lockdown getting extended after April 15. IPL 2020 was supposed to start from March 29 but as the number of coronavirus patients increased, all the events where mass gathering was possible were banned and BCCI also postponed IPL till April 15.

There were speculations in regard to IPL 2020 taking place after April 15 and former Indian cricketer Madan Lal expressed his opinion in this matter. While talking to a leading news magazine, Madan Lal says that the first priority is to deal with coronavirus and he feels that nobody will even think of taking risk in such a critical situation.

The former Indian cricketer feels that IPL is a huge brand and it will be of no use if the matches are played in empty stadiums. The veteran player is of the opinion that IPL is not just about the players and fans but also about those who are involved in off-field activities, such as organizing, travelling, broadcasting, etc.

Coronavirus has already taken lives of more than 1 lakh people worldwide while the number of infected persons is over 17 lakh. If we talk about India, the number of cases is rising at an alarming rate as yesterday, more than 1000 cases of coronavirus were registered, the total number of infected cases in India is around 7,500 at the moment while more than 240 have lost their lives.
