Free Wi-Fi To 25 Cities Within June 2015

You may have heard of “Digital India” initiative by Central Govt. And as a part of this programme, Govt. is now going to make free Wi-Fi available to 25 cities by June, 2015. The cities which have a population of 10 lakhs or more will get this within June, 2015. But the Wi-Fi service will only be available at selected public places inside the cities. But all the tourist spots inside any of the selected 25 cities will have this service available. This will surely benefit the tourists as they will not have to search for a cafe to get access to the internet. According to sources, the Wi-Fi service providers will have 3 months for the complete roll out from the day they accept the proposal from the Govt. to make Wi-Fi service available at the selected spots.

According to a report, “Government has plans to empanel 3-4 Wi-Fi service provider for speedy roll out of Wi-Fi hotspots across top 25 cities in the country by June 2015. The services will be available at select public places within these cities.”

Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Surat, Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Nagpur, Indore, Bhopal, Visakhapatnam, Patna, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Agra, Varansi, Gwalior, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar, Trivandrum.

Beside this cities, Govt. has also selected some spots which will get the service and they are –

Humayun’s Tomb, Red Fort, Qutb Minar, Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Sarnath, Shore Temple, Vaishali-Kohua, Martand Temple, Leh Palace, Konark Temple, Rani ki Vav, Khajuraho, Mandu and Rang Ghar.
