Another India–Pakistan clash, another dominant Indian performance! On Sunday in Colombo, Suryakumar Yadav and his team added a fresh chapter to this historic rivalry, defeating Pakistan by 61 runs and extending India’s remarkable record to eight wins in the T20 World Cup history against their neighbours.

As India marched into the Super 8 stage, congratulatory messages flooded social media. Among those who reacted was former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, who praised the team and head coach Gautam Gambhir for their leadership.

“Congratulations to Team India on its win against Pakistan as expected in the @cricketworldcup in Colombo and to @GautamGambhir for his stewardship,” Lalit Modi wrote on X.
Gambhir responded warmly, saying, “Thanks a lot for your wishes!”

On the field, it was Ishan Kishan who stole the show. The left-hander played a brilliant knock of 77 off just 40 balls, mixing power with smart shot selection. Batting first on a slightly two-paced surface at the R Premadasa Stadium, India posted a competitive 175/7, a total that looked more than enough given the conditions.
Ishan Kishan controlled the middle overs beautifully, finding gaps and clearing boundaries even as wickets fell at the other end. His innings ensured India kept the pressure on throughout.

Pakistan, in response, struggled from the start. Jasprit Bumrah struck early with his trademark accuracy, while Hardik Pandya backed him up perfectly, damaging the top order. The early dismissal of Pakistan star batter Babar Azam further tilted the match India’s way.
With the bowlers staying disciplined through the middle overs, Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 114, sealing a commanding win and confirming India’s place in the Super Eight in resounding style.
