Are you crazy for taking selfies? Well, you need to very careful as it may prove fatal, as in the case of this girl. 5 engineering students of Vaagdevi Engineering College lost their lives, as they drowned in a lake while saving their friend, who slipped and fell into it while taking selfies.
This unfortunate incident happened on Saturday, when a group of 6 went for an outing at Dharmasagar lake in Warangal district’s Telangana
What happened was that one of the girls from group, Ramya Pratyusha, accidentally fell into that lake while clicking selfies. Now, in order to rescue her, all others jumped into it. Pratyusha was saved, but unfortunately, the other 5 drowned.
Police has identified the victims as Srindhi, P Shivasaikrishna, Karne Shivasai, Polineni Vinuthna and Sravya Reddy. Reports say that Sravya was standing on a slippery rock in the middle of the lake. She lost her balance while taking selfies and fell into the water.
Dharmasagar Circle Inspector Rajaiah stated that the reservoir’s water level was very high and no one could gauge it.
As soon as this incident happened, locals informed the police. Swimmers tried finding them for 2-3 hours, after which they came out with their bodies.
