Girls Will Hate Ola After Watching This Sexist ‘Girlfriend Chalti Hai ₹525/Km’ Ad

The new advertisement of Ola cabs, which has been marked as sexist and misogynist, has attracted the ire of a number of people, especially the females. Ola wanted to promote its specialty of being cheap and it expressed this idea by making a comparison between a girlfriend and Ola cab.

The ad shows a couple walking in the market; girlfriend calls her boyfriend as “baby” and makes him pay for everything that she buys. After the third purchase the camera takes close-up of the boyfriend and he says, “Meri girlfriend chalti hai Rs 525 per km, but Ola Micro chalti hai sirf Rs 6 per km” which implies that walking one km with girlfriend costs Rs 525 while Ola takes only Rs 6 per km.

This was just an attempt by Ola to tell people that it is cheap and very affordable but the ad didn’t go well with many who criticized Ola for showing girls in such bad light.
