Indian Premier League which is one of the biggest sporting events of the world was supposed to start from March 29 this year but it was postponed till April 15 due to the coronavirus outbreak. Earlier it was speculated that IPL 2020 may take place in the empty stadiums as a TV-only event after the lockdown imposed by the Indian government gets lifted.

However it seems that IPL 2020 has to be cancelled as in all probability the lockdown will be extended by the Indian government. The clouds of uncertainty are also flying above T20 World Cup 2020 as many people believe that organizing the event will be little difficult in view of the fact that people will like to avoid places of mass gathering for some time even after getting rid of coronavirus. Just to inform, T20 World Cup 2020 is slated to be held in Australia later this year.

Glenn Maxwell, the Australian cricketer, has given his opinion on the matter of conducting IPL 2020 and T20 World Cup 2020 in empty stadiums. As per Maxwell, it is very difficult to play without the spectators. However at one fell swoop, he also says that IPL may take place within the closed doors but a big tournament like T20 World Cup just can’t take place without public in stadiums. He feels that T20 World Cup will get cancelled this year as it is the time to take care of ourselves and everyone else as well.

The coronavirus pandemic has taken lives of more than 1.10 lakh people all over the world while more than 18.5 lakh are found to be infected with the virus. Considering the fact that we have lost so many people to this disease, do you feel that T20 World Cup 2020 should also be postponed? Let us know your views.
