The world of television is no less than the film industry when it comes to the salaries of actors; for example, it is said that Indian comedian Kapil Sharma was paid Rs. 6 crore for each episode of his reality comedy show entitled “The Kapil Sharma Show”, which made him the highest paid performer in the TV industry. Even Salman Khan got just around Rs. 8 crore per episode for the tenth season of Bigg Boss. At one fell swoop, it won’t be wrong to say that Indian TV actors are still behind in comparison to the actors of the television series known as “Game Of Thrones.”
The five top actors of GoT – Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Emilia Clarke have signed deals as per which they will be paid £2million (Rs. 16.5 crore) per episode for the seventh and the eighth season of the series. The show will be back on TV screens on July 17. Isn’t it amazing? I just can’t believe it, can you?
The contracts signed by these five stars consist of some bonus clauses of sharing the percentage of syndication payments which will be received from 170 countries where the TV series will be telecasted. Not only this, these five actors will be paid for the repeat telecasts too. This is a very popular show worldwide and it has broken all the records in America with 23 million viewers per episode in the sixth season, which was aired last year.
Mike Raia, the media analyst, said,
“Cable network HBO is breaking the bank to ensure its most successful scripted programme ever goes out with the kind of flourish fans all over the world have come to expect.”
The makers have spent huge amount in making sure that the series should delight the audiences with stunning scenes, something which has not been seen on the television till date. As per a source,
“Fans who thought last season’s giant battle scene was breathtaking should know they ain’t seen nothing yet.”
