People are struggling hard to get money, while the banks are struggling hard to meet the needs of people. Yes, there is utter shortage of cash and people are creating a lot of chaos, since they have to stand in long queues outside the banks or ATMs.
Earlier the government had allowed the usage of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes at major public places like Railway and bus booking counters, airports, electricity bill payment centers, hospitals, medical stores, petrol pumps, crematoriums, toll plazas and milk centers.
Later, considering the problems public was facing, the usage was extended till 14th of November midnight. However, still the problem hasn’t been solved and now, the usage is extended till the 24th of November.
Moreover, officials also said that this old currency is valid for purchases as consumer stores such as “Kendriya Bhandar”. However, an ID proof is needed for the same. However, payment of bills is strictly restricted to households and individuals that have to pay old or current bills. You aren’t allowed to make advance payments.
Finally, this is relief for public! Even though Modi government has imposed the ban, appropriate provisions have been made for emergency situations.
