One of them is 20-yr Yogender who hails from Bulandshahr’s Runsi, Uttar Pradesh, and he has been nabbed at about 11am from Bas Kushla where he lives on rent whereas the second accused, is detained on Wednesday evening from Bulandshahr. The third accused from Bulandshahr is currently absconding.

Investigating officers revealed that these arrests could happen because the woman was able to give cops important leads in spite of the fact that she was heart-broken on account of her daughter’s death. The victim led cops to her village’s headman who knew an accused. Here’s what an officer said,

“The village headman informed cops that the accused returned to work and started driving auto-tempo after committing the crime. Police questioned many auto drivers and checked the CCTV footages but failed to identify the accused till Wednesday morning.”

The woman told cops that during rape, the men were saying that they knew the village headman who would eventually save them from getting punished after the brutal act. It was on 30th May that they left the place; however, as there was no police action or news of this case, two of the accused came back.

Two months ago, they had come to the village to drive auto on rent because their relatives had already been in this profession. The accused began to live on rent behind the village headman’s office.

Cops had already been looking for the wrongdoers and meanwhile, two of them confessed their crime before the village headman Ajit Chauhan who instantly informed cops after which Yogender was detained but Amit absconded.

Here’s what Times Of India was told by Ajit Chauhan:

“It was on Wednesday morning around 10:30am when I was at my office. Two of the accused came to my office and confessed about the crime. They said they committed a mistake and sought my help. Somehow, I asked them to wait for some time and informed ACP Dharmbir Singh, Manesar. Within 10 minutes, police reached the spot and arrested Yogender while Amit managed to flee.”

As per the accused, on 29th May, they saw the victim with the little baby when they were drinking liquor. He added,

“They followed her in their Tata magic tempo and when she took lift in a truck, they planned to return. But she got off from truck after some distance and the accused offered her lift in their tempo. After a distance, Yogi got off from tempo at Jhilmil Dhaba for packing the food and his two friends kept on driving to avoid catching attention of the public. They then took her to a secluded place in IMT area and took turns on her. While committing the crime, the accused choked the baby girl and threw her on the road divider outside following which she died.”

Sandeep Khirwar, Gurgaon Police Commissioner, agreed to the fact that the cops made a mistake with regard to the case as far as lodging an FIR is concerned. The woman sub-inspector who was responsible for the delay in filing the case by a day had been suspended; however, as senior officials came to know about the gang-rape, they recorded her statement and subsequent to medical tests, they added the respective sections in her FIR. As per the commissioner,

“We will nab the third accused soon and ensure speedy justice to the victim. The accused are not just guilty of rape but also murder of that child and we will not let them go off easily.”

On the question of probe, Sandeep Khirwar stated that all the resources are used for getting information and cops have performed a swift and accurate investigation. He added,

“It became possible because of the human intelligence inputs. The crime is unfortunate but I assure you that it is not that women have become unsafe. We are taking and will take more steps to deter anybody for thinking about any such crime.”

We hope that the third accused is also detained as soon as possible and the victim gets justice.
